August 16, 2017 - Four years, nine months

Hi! Today, I am four years and nine months old.

I still love trucks and machines of all kinds. I finished preschool in June, and I won the Transportation Controller award.

Whenever we go to a store, I always make Mommy and Daddy search all the cart returns for the best 'driver cart' for us to shop. Daddy took me to Sears so I could sit in all the lawn mower tractors. I also got to ride in a boat several times when we went on vacation up north last week.

I also love having fun outside. I got my own balloon giraffe at the church picnic. When I went to Oregon for a few days, I walked around a huge farmer's market and played in a pool in Grandma & Grandpa's back yard.

Last week, I got a pet betta fish, and I named him Pepper. He's doing really well. I'll try and share a picture of him soon.

May 17, 2017 - Four and a half!

Hello there! It feels like summer in Wisconsin. Yesterday, I celebrated my four-and-a-half birthday with my family. I picked dinner at Gateway Cafe, and then we came back home and had a yummy cake with blue frosting!

With it being so nice, I am really excited to get out and get moving. I like to have races across the back yard with Daddy, and I like it when Mommy pushes me on the swings. I used to be a little scared, but now I really enjoy underdogs.

I still love playing with all kinds of trucks, and I use my truck skills to help Mommy around the house. I can quickly excavate the laundry or dig holes for planting flowers. Garbage trucks are still my favorite, but I also keep my truck crane and cement mixer handy at all times.

I hope you like the pictures. You can see that I had my first dentist appointment. At church, I got a red ribbon award for finishing my first year of Cubbies. I also put in a picture with Frank, who is the only person allowed to cut my hair.

Talk to you soon! Enjoy the beautiful weather!

January 20, 2017 - Four years and beyond!

Hi, everyone. A lot has happened since I last wrote.

In September, I started preschool. I go two days every week. I used to be a little scared of it, but now I have lots of fun. I especially like playing with my friend, Ian. Last month, my class got to sing Christmas songs at the place where Daddy works.

In October, I was at Disney World! There were so many wonderful things about the trip, but one of my favorite is that I got to meet Chip and Dale twice! They let me touch their noses and give them high-fives.

In November, I was a ring bearer at my cousin Ed's wedding in California. I got to carry a light saber and walk down the aisle with Eliana. While we were there, I got to spend a day at Disneyland. My favorite thing there was Toon Town. It's a giant playground!

Another big event from November is that I had my fourth birthday. Daddy took me to lunch at McDonald's for pancakes and chicken nuggets, and in the evening I got to open lots of presents, including a truck crane. I also got to go to the Shedd Aquarium with Mommy, Daddy, and Eliana to see all kinds of fish and even a 3D movie with SpongeBob.

For Christmas, I got an awesome toy plane, a snow plow, a new magformers set, and lots of other neat stuff. I was really happy because Grandma and Grandpa came to visit for a whole week.

Here's a few other exciting things about me. I can keep my room clean all by myself. I can almost write my name. I like helping Mommy and Daddy put Selah and Timothy to bed at night.

I've got lots more adventures ahead. Talk to you soon!

August 16, 2016 - Three years, nine months

Hi, everybody! I am three years and nine months old today!

It has been a great summer. I went to the Moose Hotel twice, and I can do most of the waterslides all by myself. I'm not quite ready for the big green slide, but maybe next time.

I'm finding more ways to help Mommy around the house, and I really like the vacuum. I also enjoy using my big excavator toy to move around piles of laundry.

Here's something really exciting: When the garbage man comes on Monday morning, he lets me push the buttons on his truck! The green button crushes the trash, and the yellow one resets it for the next pile. I'd like to be a garbage man when I grow up.

Next week, I start preschool, and I'll go there two days a week. I'll tell you all about it in my next update.

May 16, 2016 - Three and a half years old

Guess what? I'm writing to say hello and tell you that I'm three years and six months old!

Now that it's warming up, my favorite thing to do is help Daddy take the trash and recyclables to the curb. It's pretty easy with my red wagon. I also help Daddy bundle up all the papers and cardboard. Of course, I still love watching the trucks go by on Monday mornings.

I just started big kid swimming lessons. I don't need a grown up to hold me any more. I really like my teacher, Joey. He's showing me how to scoop the water, kick my feet, and blow bubbles.

I'm getting much better at using the potty, and I get to sleep in my big boy underwear. I'm excited because this means that I get to go to the Moose Hotel* with Daddy, Mommy, and Eliana next month.

I like to help out around the house. I can put my folded laundry away in my dresser, and I also know how to tidy up my room. The next time I visit your house, let me know if there's something I can do to help.

Bye for now! You'll hear from me again in a few months!

Love, Jonas

March 1, 2016 - Three years, three months (plus a little more)

Hi! I am three years, three months, and a couple weeks old!

So much has happened since my last letter. For Christmas, I got a big marble race track. Mommy and Daddy help me set it up and take it down all the time.

I am now the official bottle helper for Selah and Timothy. I can scoop the formula into their bottles and shake it up. Daddy says they won't need bottles for long. I'm sure I'll find other ways to be a good helper.

I am almost done with my second session of Junior Preschool, and I have one more session in the spring. I really like my teacher, and I'm learning a lot. I also like my Johnson Jumpers class on Thursdays, especially because I get to be in class with Eliana.

I am starting to use the potty all by myself. I got to open a present after I did it ten times. I also got a big chocolate bar (yum!) for my first #2. When I go at Bubba's house, I get a gummy worm. Works for me! This potty stuff is getting pretty easy.

Yesterday, we said goodbye to Aunt Sue. I always had fun with her, and I loved it when I visited her or when she visited me at my house. It was great having lunch with her at the country club Christmas party last year. I miss her a lot.

Talk to you soon!

Love, Jonas

Watch this movie of me opening my new garbage truck!

November 17, 2015 - Three years old!

Hi, everyone! I am excited to tell you that I am three!

The past three months have been great. It's been so warm that I've had a lot of chances to play outside. I got to ride my bike, drive around in the jeep at Bubba's house, and jump in leaves. I also had fun at the pumpkin farm with Grandma and Grandpa.

I had the best birthday weekend yet! On Sunday, I went to a new restaurant in town called Choo Choo Charlie's. I got to pull a train whistle all by myself, and my lunch was delivered to me on a little train. Charlie came and brought me a scoop of ice cream.

Later on Sunday, some of my family came over, and we had a great time having cake and hanging out together. I got a toy street sweeper, another toy garbage truck, and a toy recycling truck. I love them and all my other presents.

Junior Preschool is great too. The last day of the session is Thursday, and then I don't go back until next year. It's nice to make new friends.

Talk to you soon! Everybody keep warm!

Love, Jonas

August 19, 2015 - Two years, nine months

Hi, family and friends! I am less than three months away from being three years old! Wow!

I have had an incredible summer. I can't get enough time outside, even if it's hot. I still love the swing set, my bat, ball, and tee, and my basketball hoop. I also like to take a spatula out to the sand table and pretend I'm making scrambled eggs.

I like to drive. Grandpa let me pretend to drive the highlander when he came for a visit. Now we have a van, and I like to drive that too. I also like to drive the purple jeep at Bubba and GrandPat's house.

When I'm inside, I like building things with blocks and putting together the toy fire truck and the toy train. I still really like puzzles, too.

One of my favorite things to do before bed is sing a song. My favorites are "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" and "Jesus Loves Me".

In case you were wondering, yes, I still love garbage trucks. A lot.

There's more fun times ahead. I start junior preschool in a few weeks!

Love, Jonas

May 17, 2015 - Two and a half!

Hi, everybody! I am two years and six months old!

The weather has been so nice lately! I love to play outside, especially on the new swing set in the back yard. I can climb the ladder and go down the slide by myself. I also love to swing -- just give me a few pushes, and I am all set.

There are so many exciting things to see and do. I like to hold my little brother and sister and help take care of them. I also like playing games with Eliana. I can't always do everything she can do, but I will keep on trying.

Going places is so much fun. If you tell me where you're going, I will want to come too. I had a great time going to Dairy Queen with Daddy and Eliana on free ice cream day. I needed a few extra napkins, but I ate my entire cone!

There's a lot more great weather coming up. I hope I can play outside with you! See you soon!

Love, Jonas

February 17, 2015 - Two Years, Three Months

Hi!

I am two years and three months old. Winter's still here, but it's going by very quickly! I've had lots of chances to play outside. Once at Bubba's house, I got to go sledding and make a snowman!

I like to be moving. When I'm not jumping on chairs and couches, I'm running laps around the house, playing with my trains, or climbing on Mommy and Daddy. I get to take swimming lessons on Saturdays, and I can do the ducky slide in the kiddie pool all by myself. I also like to climb into my big boy bed. It's pretty high up, but it's no problem thanks to my little blue step stool.

If you're not sure what I want, just ask me, and I'll tell you! My favorite foods are waffles with cream, bunny grahams, and fruit snacks. The fruit snacks have to have Buzz Lightyear or Cars on them, though. Mommy says I only like the expensive ones.

I'm talking lots more, and I try to help people. When my big sister is sad or upset, I walk over to her and say, "What's the matter, Eliana?" and try to give her a hug to make her feel better. I also ask for help when I need it. When I can't carry my blanket, my drink cup, and my toy airplane up the stairs at once, I'll tell you to "Hold this a minute, please."

I really love puzzles. I have lots of them at home, and there are lots more at Bubba's house. I can do some tough ones all by myself if you give me a little time to figure them out. My favorites are the farm puzzle, the Thomas (the train) puzzle, and the Dinosaur puzzle. Mommy says that if I go on the potty, she might buy me another puzzle. Hmmm...

That's all for now! Stay warm!

Love, Jonas

November 17, 2014 - Two Years Old!

Hi, everyone!

Guess what? I am now TWO years old!

We've had a month of fun celebrations in anticipation of my birthday. I got to fly on lots of airplanes. First, we went to Oregon to visit Grandma and Grandpa. We went to the zoo (I really liked the hippos), rode a train, played on some playgrounds, and had an early birthday party with my aunts, uncles and cousins. I loved all the attention!

When we got back, we went trick or treating on Halloween. I dressed up like a kangaroo and was the cutest marsupial on the block.

Last week, we flew to Florida and spent five days at Disneyworld. I visited Buzz and Woody, rode the Peter Pan and Dumbo rides, went on a safari at the Animal Kingdom (more hippos!) and spent lots of time at the pool. One of the pools had a giant bucket of water that would dump on you. If you ask me my favorite part of the trip, I may shout "the DUMP!"

I am a very active two year old. I like to climb and explore and talk and sing. Mommy and Daddy got me my very own bike for my birthday, so now we can go for rides around the neighborhood. We may have to wait until it gets warmer though. It's very cold here -- it even snowed on my birthday! So for now, we're riding laps around the family room.

I really like playing with all my cars, trucks and trains. I can tell you the difference between a dump truck, a bulldozer and an excavator. But none of them compare to my favorite truck of all - garbage trucks! I like to sit at the window every Monday morning and watch them pick up the trash and recyclables.

I am a very fun, cute and happy kid and I smile a lot. I am getting bigger every day, but I still love to cuddle with Mommy and Daddy and give hugs to my big sister Eliana. She is teaching me how to be a great big brother.

That's all for today - Daddy says that since I'm two, you'll only hear from me every three months from now on. That's because I'm so busy.

Hugs and kisses to you all!

Love, Jonas

October 17, 2014 - 23 months old

Hi, family and friends!

I am less than one month away from turning two! Yay!

Mommy bought me some new boots. I like to wear them around the house. They're also great for jumping in puddles and marching around in the mud in Aunt Sue's back yard.

I still love buses and trucks. I know the difference between a fire truck, a dump truck, a garbage truck, a mail truck, and an ice cream truck. If you go for a ride with me, I will loudly point them out to you. I'm also learning my colors, and even a few numbers along with letters.

It's getting a little cold, but I still like to go outside. Mommy and Daddy take me to the pond near our house to feed bread to the ducks. I used to be scared of the ducks, but not any more! It's great to watch them eat.

I'm talking lots and lots. I can usually express my desires with single words, but I'm also good at putting words together. My favorite phrases are:
"Have it?" -- when you have something I want
"Bye bye basement" -- when we go back upstairs after some quality play time
"Daddy do it" -- when you ask me to do something, and I know that Daddy can do it for me

See you next month!

Love, Jonas

September 18, 2014 - 22 months old!

Hi everyone!

I am now 22 months old! I am getting more grown up every day. I am starting to say short, full sentences - mostly commands like "Come on" when I want to show you something. I am learning some of the letters in people's names. I know that B is for Bubba, J is for Jonas and E is for Eliana (although I call her Nana).

We recently started playing a new game in the car called "Yellow Car." Whenever someone sees a yellow car, you yell "yellow car!" really loud. I'm not really sure what yellow means, but I like to yell at all the cars, trucks and buses that I see. I make sure I'm awake every morning at 6:45 a.m. to see the school bus pick up the kids on my street.

Eliana started preschool a few weeks ago, so I'm spending more time alone with my mom during the day. The house is a lot quieter, so I take longer naps. It's OK I guess, but I miss playing with Eliana. It is nice that I get more control of the TV shows, though. My favorites right now are Mickey Mouse and Thomas the Train.

On Wednesday night, I started going to Puggles at church. It's part of the Awana program, and it's for kids my size. I get to wear a special Puggles shirt and backpack and learn the Puggles song. It's lots of fun!

See you soon!

Love, Jonas

August 17, 2014 - 21 months

Hi everyone!

I am 21 months old. I am learning lots of new words lately and am getting very good at using my words to tell people what I want. I also try to sing along to some of my favorite songs in the car.

One of my favorite things to do is to climb. The other day, I figured out how to climb from my slide on to my play house. But then mommy moved the slide, so I can't do that any more. I can also climb on to the bathroom counter, and I can almost get on the kitchen counter too. I like to climb up on the counter to drink straight from the faucet.

I've become much more intentional when I play. I like to build towers with blocks and containers, and I like to drive trucks and fly airplanes around the family room.

This past month, I went on an airplane with Mommy, Daddy and Eliana to Arizona for a friend's wedding. While they were all doing boring wedding stuff, I played a lot with my Grandma and Grandpa, who came down to visit me. They took me to a playground that had a train and a carousel we could ride. We also went swimming a lot. It was a very fun trip.

See you soon!

Love, Jonas

July 19, 2014 - TWENTY Months!

Hi there! It's your little buddy, Jonas!

I am 20 months old! The past few weeks have been lots of fun. There was a picnic at church with a bounce house, a parade and a party on the 4th of July, another party on the 5th, and ANOTHER party on the 12th. On top of all that, some special friends from the other side of the ocean came to visit us for the past few days. I am so loved!

I'm enjoying time with my big sister. I call her "Nana". Mommy and Daddy are thrilled that I am starting to say her name, even if I don't have it quite right. We still fight over toys sometimes, but we are getting better at sharing. I like it when she gives me hugs. We also like to follow each other around when we're playing in the back yard.

I really like trucks and buses. I loved all the fire engines and the other things at the fourth of July parade. At dinner at Culver's yesterday, I could see the highway in the window, and I got super-excited every time a bus or truck zoomed by. Daddy kept reminding me to eat.

It's pretty late, so I better go settle into my toddler bed and call it a night. I'll write again next month!

Love, Jonas

June 19, 2014 - Nineteen Months

Hi, everyone!

I am now 19 months (and a few days) old! I celebrated this milestone by learning how to climb out of my crib. I am one step closer to total freedom. Yippee! I am getting bigger and smarter every day. I can also climb on top of the cozy coupe play car, and I can climb into the big car and into my car seat too.

Last week, I learned how to pull off the outlet covers. I really like trying to plug in things like the vacuum and phone chargers. Mommy does not seem pleased.

My mom bought me a gray shirt with a green soccer ball on it, and it is my new favorite. I ask to wear it every day. I think the only thing better than my ball shirt would be if I had a shirt with a bus on it. Now that would be neat!

We are going to have some fun weeks coming up. Mommy's birthday is this weekend, Daddy's is next weekend, and some of my cousins are coming to visit soon too. And, we're going to have a big party and maybe see some fireworks. I hope to see many of you soon!

Love, Jonas

May 16, 2014 - 18 Months Old!

Hi everyone,

I am officially one and a half years old!

I am learning lots of new words, like "choo choo" for train and "there it is" if you ask me where to find something. I am also starting to put phrases together, like "No Mama" or "bye bye Mama." I have a great smile, and I needed yet another hair cut this month. My hair grows really fast!

One of my favorite things to do is to watch for buses. I like to sit outside GrandPat's house and watch the buses go by in the morning. Sometimes I see four buses in just a few minutes! Then, when I go visit Eliana's school, I get to see more buses. I will run to the window and yell "BUS!" over and over. Curious George is my favorite cartoon, and I yell "George!" whenever I see him come on the TV. Today I saw a Curious George episode where he rode on a bus. That was VERY exciting for me! I yelled "BUS!" at least 100 times.

I've been staying at Eliana's school for a few days while Mommy's tummy gets stronger. I've been learning to do big boy things there, like drinking milk from a cup and taking a nap on a cot. I still get lots of hugs, and my teachers take me on walks to see Eliana sometimes! I've also been spending a lot of time with Bubba, GrandPat and Aunt Sue. They are all taking really good care of me.

See you next month! I'm looking forward to some warmer weather so we can dig more in the dirt. I really like to get dirty.

Love, Jonas

April 16, 2014 - Seventeen months!

Hi everyone!

I am 17 months old. Now that it's spring, I'm hard at work playing and climbing every day. I like to climb on furniture, on people and on playgrounds. I also like to dig in the dirt with Eliana. It's a lot more fun now that the snow is gone. Today I climbed up to the top of a very large slide at the playground and slid down all by myself.

I am talking a lot more now, and I am very expressive about things I do and don't want to do. I have a great smile and an even better laugh. I say "no" a lot, although I am a very happy boy and often break into giggles. When I laugh a lot, you can see all 12 of my teeth!

I like to figure out how things work together. Yesterday, I spent 20 minutes putting the beaters into the mixer. And today at the library, I was playing with the toy eggs, trying to get the pieces to fit together. Maybe I'll be an engineer when I grow up.

Last week, Mommy went on a trip for a few days, so Daddy stayed with me and Eliana. He took us to visit family in Lodi, play outside at Bubba and GrandPat's house, go swimming, spend time with Aunt Sue, and lots more. Daddy kept me busy, so I didn't miss Mommy too much.

I hope I get to see you soon!

Love, Jonas

March 16, 2014 - 16 months on the 16th!

Hi! Springtime is here! Well, maybe not, because I can still see snow on the deck in the backyard.

I'm sixteen months old. I'm growing pretty fast, and I love to eat just about whatever you put on my plate. And I'm not afraid to use the word, "more!"

I don't know too many words, but I find ways to tell Mommy and Daddy what I want. I love to go outside, so I'll grab my coat and shoes and stand by the front door. I also point at things I like -- usually my bottle of milk, my favorite book, or a yummy snack in the pantry.

I can now get on the kitchen table or Mommy's work table in about five seconds, so don't leave me alone for long. I like to explore, although sometimes it gets me into trouble, like when I tried to sneak down the stairs by going under the gate. I'm glad Mommy rescued me.

Enjoy the pictures. The second one is from the zoo. I hope to have lots more outdoor photos next month!

Love, Jonas

February 16, 2014 - 15 months

Hi everyone,

I am fifteen months old! I weigh 21 pounds, and I am about to get two more teeth. Then I'll have eight! My feet are growing fast, and I am only one shoe size below Eliana.

I have been sick this past week. The doctor says it's just a virus and I should feel better soon. Mommy and Daddy have been holding me a lot to help me feel better.

It's been really cold here lately, so we've been spending a lot of time inside. I like to pretend that I'm going somewhere and put on my new boots and vest. I also put on lots of backpacks. In fact, I can almost say the word "backpack." I can also say "Mama," "Dada," "Bubba" and "Roar!" I'm working on a few other sounds too.

I still climb a lot, especially on things that Mommy says I shouldn't be on. I can climb on the couch to turn on the floor lamp, and I can stand on the stairs to turn on the hall light.

That's all for now. I'll write again next month.

Love, Jonas

January 17, 2014 - Fourteen months

Hi! Happy New Year!

I hope you had a great Christmas. I went on a plane to visit Grandma and Grandpa in Oregon, and then I saw lots more of my family when I came back home. I got lots of great presents. Thank you, everyone!

I love the stairs. If Mommy and Daddy leave the gate down, I'll climb right up the first chance I get. I really like to stand on the second stair and turn on the hall light. I can't quite go down the stairs all by myself, but maybe next month!

I'm finally getting more teeth, which means I can devour blueberries, noodles, and just about anything else that you put on my tray.

This week, Mommy, Daddy, and Eliana all got sick, but I felt great the whole time! Since I had so much energy, I helped Aunt Sue move some things out of her kitchen. I'm happy to help wherever I can.

See you soon! Stay warm!

Love, Jonas

December 16, 2013 - 13 months!

Hi, everyone!

I had my one-year checkup last week. It was a little late so that Eliana and I could go together. I weigh 19 pounds 12 ounces, and I'm 30 inches tall. I got four shots, but I handled them like a champ. Just when you thought I couldn't get any cuter, I got a new haircut. I like that my hair isn't in my eyes anymore, but I kind of miss my Jo-hawk. Either way, I'm handsome.

It's almost Christmas time, and we have a tree in our family room. Mommy put some pretty ornaments on it, but she kept them all just high enough that I can't reach them.

I can now understand and follow simple directions. I know what it means to go upstairs, shut the door, put it in the trash and take a bath. I can also shake my head to tell you no, and I make lots of noises that are starting to sound like words.

I am very curious, and I love to get involved with everything that Eliana is doing. My favorite food is whatever you are eating.

I am looking forward to Christmas, and I hope to see a lot of you very soon.

Love, Jonas

November 19, 2013 - One year old!

Hi everybody!

Can you believe that I am one year old already? On Saturday, we had a birthday party for me. I had a really great time eating a cupcake and flying in a rocketship. Thanks to all my friends and family who came to play with me!

A couple weeks ago, I got all dressed up in my dragon costume and got lots of candy that mommy and daddy wouldn't let me eat. I don't understand what that was all about, but I sure looked cute!

Now that I'm one, I can do lots of new things. I can climb up chairs onto tables. Once I showed my mommy this new trick, all the chairs disappeared. I wonder what happened! And I get to have cheese and milk too! Hooray! Mac and cheese is really yummy. I like to smear it all over my face and hair.

I hope you like these pictures from the past month! Don't forget to check out this video too! You can see me grow up in less than four minutes!

October 17, 2013 - 11 months

Hi, all! I am now 11 months old!

This month we started a lot of new things. I go to swim class with Mommy, Daddy and Eliana. I like to splash! I also get to spend some extra time with Aunt Sue, Mommy and GrandPat while Eliana is at preschool.

I am very curious and very busy. I climb up on things and get into everything. I like to pull toys with strings, like my green frog. The blender and the popcorn popper are fun to pull too. I really like toys that make noise, like our egg shakers and tambourine.

We've been spending lots of time outside before it gets too cold. We went raspberry picking, visited the pumpkin patch and spent time at playgrounds and parks. I have also been eating the last cucumbers and tomatoes from our garden.

I now have two big top teeth and I'll probably get some more soon. And no, I still have not had a proper haircut. Maybe sometime soon.

Next month I turn one year old. Hooray!

Love, Jonas

September 16, 2013 - Ten months old!

Hi everyone!

I am 10 months old today, and guess what? I can walk! I decided it would be more fun than crawling, and I sure can get places fast. I love to follow Eliana around the house. Be sure to check out the video links at the bottom of this e-mail.

At my nine-month checkup, I weighed about 18 1/2 pounds, and I'm 28 1/2 inches tall, which is just about average for my age. I'm starting to eat more foods, so I'm growing big and strong.

I went on another airplane to visit my family in Oregon. That was lots of fun, and I got to spend some extra time with Grandma and Grandpa. When I was on the plane, I really liked walking down the center aisle and meeting all the other passengers. Old ladies sure do love me!

As you can see from the pictures, I have some pretty wild hair going on. My mom and grandma have been trying to cut some of it, but I have been resisting mightily. I like to think of it as my signature style.

Please save Saturday, November 16 on your calendar for my first birthday party. We're going to have a rocket ship theme, so you know it's going to be a blast.

Love, Jonas

Watch me walk all by myself here.

And here's even more of me walking.

August 16, 2013 - 9 Months!

Hi everyone!

Can you believe that I am 9 months old already? I am getting so big, and I am close to walking. I like to stand and cruise along the furniture, and I am very intent in my decisions to go places. I decided to crawl, so now I can get into all kinds of messes. I can even climb stairs! If I want to be outside, I will crawl to the door and bang on it with my hands. We've been spending a lot of time outside playing in the grass, riding in the stroller and swinging at the playground.

My hair is getting very long, so maybe I'll get my first haircut sometime soon. I have two bottom teeth, and my two top teeth are just about to poke through. I like to tell you all about them in the middle of the night.

I went to the cottage in northern Wisconsin for the first time and spent some time enjoying Little Muskie Lake and Paul Bunyan's. My favorite were the pancakes. I was very good during the car ride and took lots of naps. Coming up soon, I get to visit some family in Chicago and Oregon, and I get to ride on another airplane.

See you next month!

July 16, 2013 - Eight Months Old!

Hi everyone,

I am eight months old today. I learned that I if I try really hard, I can stand up. Now I pull myself up on lots of things -- in the bathtub, on my music table and on my little chairs. I'm learning to walk around with my sister's stroller, but I like it best when I hold Mommy's hands and we walk around the house. It's much better than learning to crawl. All this new found freedom means I'm falling down a lot too, but I'm trying to be a tough guy.

It has been very warm here lately, and today I got to splash around with Eliana in our little pool. That was lots of fun. I even tried putting my face in the water a couple times. I am still a very picky eater, but I do like peas, cheerios and cinnamon maple crunchies.

Last week, I had my baby dedication at church. This means that Mommy and Daddy promised to teach me all about God and to do the best job raising me that they can. I think they're doing a pretty good job so far. Last week, I saw my first parade and spent lots of time with some of my family. I love to be around them, which is good because there were a LOT of parties.

Talk to you next month!

Love, Jonas

June 16, 2013 - Seven Months Old!

Hi everyone,

I am seven months old today. I can sit up on my own now, and I like being able to look around at everything that Eliana is doing. I have a green bucket full of toys that I like to sit by and dig through. I'm very close to crawling, but I haven't quite figured out how to move forward yet. In a few more days, I'll be cruising all over the house. Right now, I just roll when I want to get somewhere. I also like to hold Mommy and Daddy's hands and practice standing.

I'm still a very happy baby. In my free time, I like to pull hair, drool and put things in my mouth. All this activity makes me pretty tired. I like to take a couple long naps each day, which makes my mom happy! Mommy and Daddy keep trying to get me to eat more kinds of food, but I don't really like it that much. I guess the rice cereal and the peas are okay, but Mommy sure gets it all over when she feeds me.

My hair is getting longer now. The Jo-Hawk is mostly gone, and it's growing into a lovely comb-over. It's a big hit with the ladies. So are my chunky baby thighs. I hear they're pretty adorable. My eyes are still gray-blue, but nobody knows whether they'll stay that way or turn dark brown like Eliana's.

Will you drop by my house on Saturday, July 6 at 6 p.m. and play with me? We're having a summer party to celebrate Mommy and Daddy's birthdays and my baby dedication. If you can make it, just let Mommy or Daddy know.

Talk to you soon!

Love, Jonas

May 16, 2013 - Six Months Old!

Hello, friends and family!

It has been a very special day today. I am now six months old, and I've had lots of fun celebrating with my family. I watched the sun rise with Mommy. Later in the morning, Grandma and Grandpa played with me. In the afternoon, I relaxed on the beach with Mommy, Daddy, Eliana, Grandma, AND Grandpa. It's great to have them around because they all give me plenty of hugs.

I've been trying lots of new foods lately. Daddy fed me some sweet potatoes with a spoon today, and they were delicious. I also like peas and rice cereal. I'm going to try squash tomorrow.

Whenever I wake up in the morning, I put a big smile on my face and wave my hands and feet really quickly. That's how I tell Mommy and Daddy that I'm happy to see them.

I'm still growing really fast! I can't wait to write again next month. You'll also get a note very soon from my big sister, Eliana. Bye for now!

Love, Jonas

April 16, 2013 - Five Months

Hi everyone,

I am five months old today. I can now roll over from my tummy to my back and from my back to my tummy. I've also been spending some time in the exersaucer. I like being able to sit up and see things from a different point of view.

I like to put lots of toys and blankets in my mouth. Before you know it, I'll have some teeth! Last weekend, I had my first bite of real food - applesauce. I didn't think it was all that exciting, but maybe I'll like it more in the next few days.

A couple weeks ago, we got all dressed up for Easter Sunday. Mommy put a bow tie on me. I didn't like it very much, but we got some cute pictures.

We have lots of exciting things coming up next month, including another trip to Oregon to see family and a special trip to the beach. I'm sure we'll have lots of fun pictures to share.

March 16, 2013 - Four Months!

Today, I am four months old. Mommy and Daddy say I'm growing really fast. Some of my pajamas are size 9 months!

My favorite activities are eating, sleeping, and playing with Mommy, Daddy, and Eliana. Sometimes, when nobody is paying attention, I like to roll over from my back to my stomach. I'm still working on going the other way. I also like to giggle and make cute noises, especially when you rub your head on my tummy.

Last weekend, Bubba and GrandPat came over to visit so that Mommy and Daddy could get some work done around the house. GrandPat did a great job holding me, and I liked it when Bubba fed me while I was laying on the couch.

On Friday, I went over to Great Grandma Iz's house, and I visited with her and Aunt Sue while Mommy went to Pilates class. There are so many fun toys there! I laid on an activity mat with piano keys I could kick, and the bouncy seat there is really comfortable. Do you see the blue Mickey ears I'm wearing? Aunt Sue got those for me when she went to Disney World.

Before I go to bed, I'd like to wish a happy birthday to my super Aunt Liz. She's coming over to visit next week.

If you ever want to pay me a visit, just send me a note. Bye for now!

Love, Jonas

February 17, 2013 - Three Months

Hello!

Yesterday, I turned three months old. Sorry that this note is a day late. Mommy, Daddy, Eliana, and I have been very busy since we got back from our trip.

I had lots of fun with Mommy's family in Oregon! Grandma and Grandpa were thrilled to see me again. They do a great job holding me. I also liked meeting my cousin Addie, my cousin Lucas, Great Grandma Comeau, and lots of aunts and uncles.

Whenever I get tired, Mommy and Daddy put me in my crib now. They love that I can sleep the whole night.

I can't wait until it gets warm so that I can spend more time outside. See you soon!

Love, Jonas

January 16, 2013 - Two months old!

Hi everyone,

Today I am two months old. I weigh 10 pounds and 10 ounces and am 23 inches long. I am working on building up my neck muscles, and my legs are very strong. I am staying awake for longer periods of time and am sleeping longer at night too. If I like you, I just might smile at you and make some cute baby noises.

I am a cuddler and really like to be held. Last weekend my grandma came for a visit, and she held me a lot. We had tons of fun together.

I enjoy time on my play mat. I swat at the toys hanging over my head. I like to play with the ones that make crinkling noises.

Mom and Dad might be biased, but they say I am an especially handsome baby. Aunt Holly came to visit and took lots of great pictures of me. I hope you like them!

Talk to you soon!

December 16, 2012 - My first month!

Hi, everybody!

My name is Jonas. I showed up a month ago, and I am thrilled to be here! Daddy set up an e-mail address for me, and my big sister, Eliana, gave me a list of people that I can use to send notes! I'll try and send you some pictures of me every month. If you don't want to receive them, that's okay. Just let me know.

When I was born, I weighed 7 pounds and 2 ounces, and I was 19 inches long. Mommy and Daddy told me that I have already outgrown some of my pajamas, so I must be getting bigger every day.

I really like to sleep. I take several naps a day, and at night, I can sleep for five hours straight. I'm going to try and sleep even longer at night so Mommy and Daddy can get more rest, too.

It's great having a big sister! Eliana likes to play with me. She will shake my hand and touch my hair while I am resting. She sometimes gets so excited that she wakes me up, but I don't mind. She also helps Mommy and Daddy change my diaper.

There's been lots of visitors here because we have lots to celebrate. Everyone is happy to see me, and last week, we had a party because my big sis is two years old! It's great to have so many people around. I know Mommy and Daddy really appreciate it.

I hope you like the pictures. The first one is when I was a day old. In the second one, I was about three weeks old. The last picture is from this morning.

Have a Merry Christmas, and I'll write again next month!

Love, Jonas
