August 13th, 2017 - Two years, five months

SELAH: Hi, friends and family! We turned two years old in March. Time has flown by, and now we're having a great summer. We've had lots of chances to get out and enjoy the beautiful weather. We spend lots of time in the back yard with our playground and pool. I loved the 4th of July parade, and the sirens didn't bother me at all.

TIMOTHY: That WAS a neat parade! I love shopping trips and visiting the donut store after church on Sundays. Whenever Daddy asks if we want to go out, I usually say, "Ooh, that's fun!"

SELAH: Last month, we went up north for a big family reunion and some time at a place called the Lighthouse Resort. I loved hanging out on the beach and digging in the sand.

TIMOTHY: I loved it when Daddy took me out on the water trampoline in the lake, and I also liked playing games and running around the cottage where we stayed. We also got lots of rest time!

SELAH: Next month, we start junior preschool. Mommy and Daddy want us to use the potty before then. I'm not sure what I think about that.

TIMOTHY: Me neither. Bye for now!

Love, Selah and Timothy

February 15th, 2017 - 23+ months

SELAH:

Hi, everyone! Happy 2017! We've been very, very busy growing up in the past few months, and we're excited to be turning two in just a few weeks.

We haven't had too much snow this winter, but Timothy and I still got a few chances to go outside and play in it. We don't like to keep our gloves on, but that doesn't keep us from having fun. The slide is extra fast this time of year!

Meal time is getting a lot more interesting these days. Mommy and Daddy have trouble keeping up with us and the big kids becuase we keep asking for more. Plus, we eat our yogurt all by ourselves.

TIMOTHY:

Bedtime is also lots more fun. Our cribs are gone, and we both have big kid beds! After brushing our teeth, we read a few books, and then we sing a few songs like "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star", "Itsy Bitsy Spider", and "Good Night Sleep Tight". It's important to clap and go "YAY!" after every song. Sometimes, Selah will crawl into my bed with me for a few minutes after Mommy and Daddy leave, but then she goes back to her bed.

We are also talking up a storm. We're using lots more words, and I love to speak in full sentences. My favorite is "I did it myself!".

Our birthdays are coming up, so you'll probably hear from us again soon!

Love, Selah and Timothy

November 11th, 2016 - Twenty months!

SELAH:
Hi, everybody! Sorry that we missed last month! We've been very busy growing and having lots of fun.

TIMOTHY:
We had lots of great weather the past several weeks. Mommy and Daddy bought a second bucket swing so that we can both swing at the same time.

SELAH:
We're both expanding our vocabulary quite a bit. We can each say at least 25 different words.

TIMOTHY:
Mommy cut my hair, and now I can see much better! And yours is finally long enough for a ponytail!

SELAH:
We are much better at climbing, and we can go up and down the stairs all by ourselves.

TIMOTHY:
And we both LOVE playing with markers and crayons wherever we can find them.

SELAH:
We had a great Halloween. I went as Cinderella, and Timothy was a dragon.

TIMOTHY:
We had a great time with Grandma & Grandpa, who came to visit from Oregon last month.

SELAH:
And we got some quality time with Bubba this past weekend.

TIMOTHY:
We'll write again soon!

Love, Selah and Timothy

September 8th, 2016 - A year and a half

TIMOTHY:
Hello, world! Can you guess who is a year and a half old?

SELAH:
Yes, it's us! At my checkup, I weighed 26 pounds.

TIMOTHY:
Wow! I'm only 21 pounds. You're closer in weight to Jonas than you are to me!

SELAH:
When you've got as much energy as me, you need to eat a lot. Say, did you notice how Mommy and Daddy moved my crib away from the dresser?

TIMOTHY:
Yes, that's because you learned how to climb on to it from your crib.

SELAH:
No big deal, I suppose. It's only a matter of time before I can escape the crib on my own. We'll see what Mommy and Daddy do then.

TIMOTHY:
Besides lots of climbing and running around, we're also talking a lot more. Selah can say several words, and I can say several more.

SELAH:
We're also working on listening and finding ways to help around the house, like putting things in the trash, sweeping up, and finding shoes for people.

TIMOTHY:
We also get to watch lots of great shows like Bubble Guppies, Daniel Tiger, and Mickey Mouse.

SELAH:
Mommy says it's getting harder for you and me to agree on a show. Things could get interesting around here.

TIMOTHY:
They sure could. That's all for now. Talk to you next month!

Love, Selah and Timothy

August 12th, 2016 - 17 months!

SELAH:
Here we are! In less than a month, we'll each be a year and a half old! Wow!

TIMOTHY:
It has been a really fun summer. We can both climb the ladder on the playground in the back yard, but I still prefer walking up the slide.

SELAH:
I still love being outside. I like to check out the tomatoes and the other plants in the garden, and I also like to pick berries from the blackberry bush in the corner. Inside is fun too -- I can climb on top of the coffee table, the kitchen table, or even the kitchen counter.

TIMOTHY:
Be careful up there. I like to keep everything in the house in order. When I'm playing upstairs, I remind Mommy and Daddy to close the doors to Eliana and Jonas' rooms so that I don't sneak into them. I also help close the gate by the stairs and the downstairs bathroom door.

SELAH:
Last Saturday was a super-great time at Daddy's company picnic. We jumped around in a few different bounce houses and drank lots of lemonade.

TIMOTHY:
Was the picnic at the same place where we go swimming?

SELAH:
Yes! We get to play in the kiddie pool once a week, and we both like the ducky slide.

TIMOTHY:
Okay, it's nap time! We still take two naps a day, but I bet we'll drop down to one soon. Bye for now!

Love, Selah and Timothy

July 6th, 2016 - Sixteen months - pictures only

June 25th, 2016 - Fifteen months (plus a little more)

SELAH:
Hi! Isn't summer great? I love to play outside on the deck, and also on the playground in the back yard.

TIMOTHY:
Me, too! When it's really warm, Mommy and Daddy blow up the big pool and help us slide into it. Splash!

SELAH:
Jonas and Eliana like that too. It's also fun to get pushed in the bucket swing or to go for a ride in the neighborhood in the wagon.

TIMOTHY:
Back inside, there's lot to see and do. I help put all kinds of trash in the wastebasket now -- not just diapers. And I bring Mommy the remote whenever I want to watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. I also put my empty bottle in the sink.

SELAH:
I noticed you're drinking milk like me. But how come yours tastes sweeter than mine?

TIMOTHY:
I tricked Mommy and Daddy by not drinking white milk, so they mix a little chocolate milk with it. Isn't it great?

SELAH:
Yeah! Just remember that I'll finish whatever you don't drink.

TIMOTHY:
OK, deal! It's time for a nap now. Bye, everyone!

Love, Selah and Timothy

May 11th, 2016 - 14 months!

TIMOTHY:
Hey, everyone! We are celebrating because we are fourteen months old. Mommy and Daddy are amazed at how much we've grown.

SELAH:
I love when they read books to us, especially at bedtime. I'll pick up a book, wait for Mommy or Daddy to sit on the floor, and then I'll back up and sit down in their lap. Sometimes I help turn the pages.

TIMOTHY:
We're recognizing more words that Mommy and Daddy say, like "upstairs", "outside", and "bottle". Whenever I hear "car", I stand by the garage door, and I'll pick up my shoes if they're nearby.

SELAH:
I love how warm it's getting. Mommy lets me play on the slide, and I can almost climb to the top of it. It makes Jonas and Eliana smile.

TIMOTHY:
We're getting lots of teeth, so we can eat just about everything. We still drink plenty. Selah likes whole milk, but I still prefer good old formula. Maybe I'll switch soon. See you next month!

Love, Selah and Timothy

April 10th, 2016 - Thirteen Months

SELAH:
Hi! Has another month gone by already, little bro?

TIMOTHY:
It sure has. We're keeping busy walking, climbing on any furniture we can reach, and eating everything in sight. It's great to be one.

SELAH:
It's amazing how excited Mommy and Daddy are getting when we say "Mama" or "Dada" or "Bubba". You say them more than I do. What do you think?

TIMOTHY:
Yeah, they love it. Mommy also loves it when we put our own dirty diapers in the trash and shut the closet door.

SELAH:
And since springtime is here (well, sort of), we're getting more time outside on the deck. That bubble machine we got for Easter is the best.

TIMOTHY:
And we just barely still fit in the bucket swing together.

SELAH:
If it's cold, there's lot of room to run around in the basement. I like going through all the cabinets with toys in them.

TIMOTHY:
Yeah, that sure is fun, but I can't wait until it warms up for good. See you next month!

Love, Selah and Timothy

March 8th, 2016 - Our first birthday!

SELAH:
Hi, everyone! Timothy and I are each one year (and three days) old! Yeah!

TIMOTHY:
Yes, indeed. At my checkup today, I weighed 19 pounds and 3 ounces.

SELAH:
I'm just a bit ahead of you at 20 pounds 11 ounces.

TIMOTHY:
Maybe I'll catch up to you before we're two. We've both been eating a lot now that we're running all around the house.

SELAH:
Well, maybe not running, but definitely walking. It's the best way to get around. Every day I get a little faster.

TIMOTHY:
Anyway, our birthday party was great! It was wonderful to celebrate with so many friends and family, and I loved the cake!

SELAH:
The presents were nice too. Clothes, toys, books, and even a new picnic table that's just the right size for me and you. Thanks, everyone!

TIMOTHY:
I'm thrilled that it's finally getting warmer. We can play in the back yard. Yay!

SELAH:
Talk to you next month!

TIMOTHY:
Also, be sure to check out the video links at the bottom of this note. I hear Daddy worked pretty hard to make those. Bye!

Love, Selah and Timothy

Video # 1 - a photo and video montage of our first year!

Video # 2 - a summary of our party on Saturday, including a double cake smash!

January 28, 2016 - Ten months - almost eleven!

SELAH:
Wake up, Timothy! It's a new year. In fact, it's been a new year for almost 28 days!

TIMOTHY:
Wow! So much has happened since we last wrote.

SELAH:
I loved Christmas because of all the family who came to visit, the pretty lights, and of course the presents. I like my new shopping cart. It's helping me learn to walk, and I can push it over by Eliana's new market stand to get some groceries.

TIMOTHY:
I like to push around my new little lawn mower. We're going to be walking on our own very soon!

SELAH:
Here's more exciting news: A couple of weeks ago, we went on our first plane ride!

TIMOTHY:
That's right! Mommy, Daddy, Eliana, Jonas, and the two of us flew to Oregon to spend some time with Grandma and Grandpa, and we got to meet more aunts, uncles, and cousins, too!

SELAH:
Everyone was so nice to us on the plane. It probably helped that we didn't cry too much.

TIMOTHY:
Mommy and Daddy were pretty tired when we got back. I'm glad that we could all go.

SELAH:
It was so much fun. Hey, I think I need another nap.

TIMOTHY:
Me too. I don't know if we'll get a chance to write next month, but you'll definitely hear from us when we turn one. Bye for now!

Love, Selah and Timothy

December 13, 2015 - Nine months old

TIMOTHY:
Hi all! We are nine months old -- we'll each reach the one-year mark before you know it!

SELAH:
We were at the doctor yesterday, and we're both doing great! I weigh about twenty pounds, and Timothy is about eighteen pounds.

TIMOTHY:
We're bound to keep growing -- especially since we can have yogurt and lots more foods. I love the fruit and vegetable pouches, but it's great to expand the menu.

SELAH:
Yeah, that yogurt we had for dinner today was pretty good.

TIMOTHY:
In other news, I think we've become a little too fast for Mommy, Daddy, and the big kids. They put up a big fence in the family room.

SELAH:
Now it's a lot harder to get to Jonas and Eliana's toys. We'll just have to form a plan the next time they give us free crawl on the main floor of the house.

TIMOTHY:
It's not all bad. We have a little space of our own for our toys. But you're right -- we'll have to figure out how to escape. I can get up the stairs pretty quick. Maybe that'll help.

SELAH:
I think we have to do that walking thing that the big kids do. Let's watch them really closely in the next couple months.

TIMOTHY:
Deal. Well, I think we've said too much already.

SELAH AND TIMOTHY: Bye! Talk to you next year!

November 7, 2015 - Eight months!

SELAH:
Happy November! We are more than eight months old!

TIMOTHY:
I love how much we can move around. I've made two key discoveries in the kitchen.

SELAH:
Really? What did you find?

TIMOTHY:
Well, I can get the pantry door open. There's a lot of food in there, but I don't think we can eat it yet. There's also that spot right by the garage door where Mommy and Daddy put all the trash. I've been able to peek in there a few times.

SELAH:
That's amazing! How can you get all the way over there without Mommy and Daddy stopping you?

TIMOTHY:
I'm even faster than I was last month.

SELAH:
I'm still not much of a crawler, but I love to hang out in the family room and dump out the bin where they keep our diapers.

TIMOTHY:
Yeah, don't worry about it. I like it when Mommy and Daddy hold us up so we can take little steps forward. If we keep working on that, we'll be walking around by ourselves in no time.

SELAH:
And then there's no stopping us. By the way, you should really try this talking thing.

TIMOTHY:
What do you mean?

SELAH:
The other day, I started saying 'Mama' and 'Bubba', and everyone loves it.

TIMOTHY:
Hmmmm... Okay, I'll see what I can do.

SELAH AND TIMOTHY: See you next month!

October 13, 2015 - Seven months

SELAH:
Hi there! I'm rolling over to share another monthly e-mail with you. Timothy? Where are you?

TIMOTHY: Right here.

SELAH: Whoa! How'd you get in here so fast?

TIMOTHY: I figured out how to crawl!

SELAH: Awesome! Can you show me?

TIMOTHY:
Sure. It's a great way to get to stuff. Mommy took the batteries out of the DVD player remote, because whenever I see it, I try to grab it right away.

SELAH:
Rolling works okay, but Jonas and Eliana pull their toys away whenever I get close.

TIMOTHY:
Yeah, I think crawling is faster. Say... do you have a couple of teeth now?

SELAH: I sure do! I'm loving the expanded menu that Mommy, Daddy, and even Eliana and Jonas are feeding us these days.

TIMOTHY: So am I. We can't have yogurt or meat yet, but maybe soon!

SELAH: Alrighty, we better get to bed.

TIMOTHY: You're right.

SELAH AND TIMOTHY:
Until next month!

Love, Selah and Timothy

September 17, 2015 - Six months (and 12 days)

SELAH:
Wake up, Timothy! We're late in sending out our six month e-mail!

TIMOTHY:
Huh? Oh. Sorry, everybody. It's been pretty crazy around here lately.

SELAH:
And we are growing up fast! I weigh about 17 pounds.

TIMOTHY:
I'm only 15 pounds, but maybe I'll catch up now that we're getting more food. Besides, I have two teeth coming in.

SELAH:
Yeah, nothing from me yet. I can't wait to add crunchy stuff to the weekly menu.

TIMOTHY:
Yeah, now that we eat solid food three times a day, it will be good to get a little more variety.

SELAH:
Oh yeah. Say, what do you think of the van we get to ride in now?

TIMOTHY:
It's awesome! The big kids can get in without climbing around us, and I like the songs on the radio.

SELAH:
Me too! I like it when we sing along, even though we don't know the words.

TIMOTHY:
You know what else I like? Sitting up. It's so much easier to see Eliana and Jonas and Mommy and Daddy.

SELAH:
I like it too. But we need to figure out a better way to move across the room. Rolling isn't getting us very far.

TIMOTHY:
Mommy said something about "crawling" the other day. Maybe that's the ticket.

SELAH:
I heard "walking" is also a great way to get around. Hmmm....

SELAH AND TIMOTHY:
See you next month!

Love, Selah and Timothy

August 6, 2015 - Five months!

SELAH AND TIMOTHY:
Hi, everybody!

TIMOTHY:
I hope you are having a great summer. We sure are!

SELAH:
Growing up is so much fun. I love the new food that Mommy and Daddy are giving us. Rice cereal, applesauce...

TIMOTHY:
We had butternut squash the other day. And I hear sweet potato is going to be added to the rotation soon.

SELAH:
Excellent. You know what else is great? All the people who come to see us.

TIMOTHY:
I know! It was great to have Grandma and Grandpa fly here from Oregon for a visit.

SELAH:
Absolutely. I hope they enjoyed staying in our room with us.

TIMOTHY:
I'm sure they did. We only woke them up in the early morning hours a couple of times.

SELAH:
Yeah, we're still getting lots of great sleep time, especially at night.

TIMOTHY:
I love it when Mommy or Daddy comes in to get us in the morning. I smile and kick my legs and wave my arms as soon as I see them.

SELAH:
Me too. I also like it when Eliana and Jonas come by our cribs, or when they play with us in the family room.

TIMOTHY:
Oh, yeah. Fun times all around. Until next month!

Love, Selah and Timothy

July 11, 2015 - Four Months

SELAH AND TIMOTHY:
Hello from the two of us!

TIMOTHY:
We are four months old! Did everyone have a great 4th of July? It was great to spend lots of time with our extended family and friends from out of town.

SELAH:
Mommy and Daddy are thrilled with how we're growing. Our checkup isn't until later this week, but I'm guessing we're at least 13 pounds each.

TIMOTHY:
You probably hit 14 already. Mommy said that Eliana wasn't this big when she was this old.

SELAH:
I guess I have a pretty big appetite. I heard that we're going to get real food pretty soon.

TIMOTHY:
Awesome! Do they keep that in the kitchen with our formula?

SELAH:
Yeah. I almost rolled my way in there the other day when Daddy wasn't looking.

TIMOTHY:
I remember that! I can roll from my back to my stomach, but you can do that AND go from your stomach to your back. How'd you figure that out?

SELAH:
Practice. Don't worry, you'll get it soon, I'm sure.

TIMOTHY:
Before we go, we should tell everybody about our dedication coming up.

SELAH:
That's right! Our dedication is on Sunday, July 19th at 10:30 a.m. at Kenosha Bible Church. Tell Mommy or Daddy if you want to see it. It would be great to have lots of people we know there.

TIMOTHY:
It sure would. Bye for now!

Love, Selah and Timothy

June 5, 2015 - Three months old!

SELAH AND TIMOTHY:
Hi everyone!

TIMOTHY:
We are now 3 months old! We are getting cuter and cuter every day. We have both been working on our smiles and giggles. We recognize our mom and dad and smile when we see them.

SELAH:
We've been growing a lot. I think I might finally weigh more than you, little bro.

TIMOTHY:
Yeah, you're right! I'm pretty big, too. It seems like yesterday that Mommy got out our 3-month sized clothing, and she already has to put it away and get the 6-month stuff!

SELAH:
We are sleeping longer at night and staying awake more during the day. Mommy and Daddy really appreciate this.

TIMOTHY:
I think I could get used to this sleeping all night thing.

SELAH:
During the day, we like to play on our play mat and have started swatting at and grabbing the hanging toys. Our favorite is a black and white cow that vibrates when we pull the ring. We also get lots of hugs and play time with our big brother and big sister. They like to hold us.

TIMOTHY:
Now that it's almost summer, we're looking forward to spending more time outside. See you next month!

Love, Selah and Timothy

May 9, 2015 - Two months (and a few days) old

SELAH AND TIMOTHY:
Hi! Sorry that this is late!

SELAH:
Mommy and Daddy are still getting used to taking care of Eliana, Jonas, Timothy, and me.

TIMOTHY:
Yeah, I think they're pretty tired.

SELAH:
That's why we're trying really hard to sleep longer at night.

TIMOTHY:
Selah and I both slept for seven straight hours last night!

SELAH:
That was great. And we're sleeping in our room now! I'm in my crib every night, and Timothy will be soon too.

TIMOTHY:
I like the little napper in the pack and play, but I guess I can sleep in my crib too.

SELAH:
We had a checkup on Wednesday. I weigh 10 pounds, 6 ounces, and I'm 22 inches tall.

TIMOTHY:
I weigh 10 pounds, 9 ounces, and I'm 23 inches tall.

SELAH:
I'm going to catch up to you by the next checkup!

TIMOTHY:
We'll see about that.

SELAH:
Hey, nice smile! Mommy and Daddy really like it when we do that. We just learned how a week or two ago.

TIMOTHY:
I'm hungry. Can we wrap this up?

SELAH:
Sure. Bye everybody!

TIMOTHY:
Enjoy the nice weather!

Love, Selah and Timothy

April 5, 2015 - TWINS: One month old!

SELAH AND TIMOTHY:
Hi, everyone! Happy Easter! We are Selah Abigail and Timothy Miles, and we are one month old today! We are both healthy babies, now weighing more than 7 pounds each.

SELAH:
We are still learning to sleep for long periods of time, but I'm sure we'll learn soon enough. For now, we like to wake up to eat every three hours or so.

TIMOTHY:
We also like spending time with our big brother and sister, and they are taking good care of us. They like to hold us and bring us our blankets.

SELAH:
While we are twins, we have very different personalities. I am bright-eyed, alert and curious. I am also very vocal and will let you know if I need anything. The name Selah comes from a term used often in the Psalms that means to pause or reflect. My mom and dad like my name because it reminds them to stop and think about how good God is to bless us all with such a great family.

As for my younger brother, the name Timothy means "honoring God", and Mom and Dad hope this will be true in his life. Timothy is much more mellow, and he is a cuddly and calm baby. Right, Timothy?

TIMOTHY: Yeah.

SELAH:
We've had a lot of fun meeting our family and friends this month. Mom and Dad would like to say thank you to everyone who has come to hold us, and for those who have given us a lot of support, meals and diapers. We really appreciate it! If we haven't met you yet, we'd love for you to stop by for a visit!

TIMOTHY:
By the way, if you don't want to get these notes every month, just let us know!

Love, Selah and Timothy
