The Great Outdoors

It’s finally warming up in Wisconsin, and Jenelle and I are taking advantage as best we can.

Last Saturday, I started up the mower and cut the lawn for the first time this year. Jenelle was close behind with the edger. We also tried out the blower that we got for Christmas from Andrew & Holly to clean up some of the grass clippings. It works very well.

On Sunday, we had friends over for a spontaneous barbecue. This is the first “official” party we’ve had on the deck since the one we had shortly after it was completed last September. We had plenty of food, and the grill worked perfectly in the corner of our deck.

It got chilly again this week, but the weather improved just in time for this weekend! I’ll write more about the fun activities from this weekend in a future post, and I will provide an explanation for the award currently on the BenCam. 🙂

Wednesday, April 25: Happy Birthday, Janet!

Basement Cleaning

Yesterday, Jenelle and I began the task of organizing our basement. We have hundreds of boxes down there, along with a few storage bins and an ample supply of Ziploc Big Bags. With the task of organizing, there comes a time to “let go” of some of those old souvenirs that aren’t really doing much more than taking up space. For example, it’s finally time to recycle the seven-ounce empty bottle of Miller Lite that I enjoyed on my 21st birthday. Yeah, eight years is long enough.

For those of you have trouble getting rid of old things, I took a picture of me with it, and it’s up on the BenCam. The memory will last forever. 🙂

Trailbreaker Photos

This morning, I ran another marathon in Waukesha, WI. Mom, Dad, and Jenelle came to cheer me on, and they got a few photos, and they’re already up on the photos page. It was a pretty fun race which included a climb to the top of a 40-foot tower near the midpoint of the course.

And by the way, Happy Anniversary to us! We celebrated our fourth wedding anniversary on Thursday.

Spring is here!

I finally replaced the BenCam picture with one that doesn’t have snow in it. 🙂

In other news, check out the movies page for a movie from Little Rock. Enjoy!

Saturday, March 10: Happy Birthday, Jamie!

Sunday, March 25: Happy Birthday, Aunt Sandy!

Little Rock Photos

My dad and I went to Little Rock last weekend, where I ran in yet another marathon. Here’s some photos. We didn’t get a lot of photos from the actual race, but my dad did get some video footage. I’ll be putting together a video soon.

For details on the race, you can check out Ben’s Running Log.

Yeah, we’re still doing fine

Even though last Saturday night’s blizzard canceled church services the following morning, it wasn’t really that bad. I probably could have driven somewhere but I decided to take it easy. Jenelle was in Tucson for a company function, so I took the opportunity to finish watching all three movies in the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. My strategy was very simple; watch some of the movie, do some laundry, shovel some snow, watch more of the movie, finish the laundry, eat something, shovel more snow… you get the idea. The snow was wet and heavy, so I had to take care of it in shifts. 🙂

Perhaps someday soon, I’ll have something more exciting to write about. For now, here’s more birthdays:

Sunday, February 11: Happy Birthday, Tony!
Friday, February 23: Happy Birthday, Uncle Mike!
Wednesday, February 28: Happy Birthday, Dyan!

Ouch

No shadow!

Well, Punxsutawney Phil predicts an early spring. However, it’s not going to be that early. It’s no surprise that wind chills are below zero in Wisconsin this time of year, but we’d prefer that the temperatures were at least in the teens. We’ll get no such luck this weekend. It’s so cold that I’m not even planning on running outside (and I have lots of funny-looking clothes that I can wear to stay warm while running).

Things haven’t been all that exciting for us lately. We’re both keeping busy at work, but we did manage to get our taxes done last weekend. We owed a tiny bit to the federal government, but the state government is giving us more than 100 times that amount, so we’ll be okay. 🙂

Let’s celebrate January birthdays and anniversaries!
Saturday, January 6: Happy Birthday, Pam!
Saturday, January 6: Happy Birthday, Aunt Nancy!
Thursday, January 11: Happy Anniversary, Jeff & Jennifer!
Tuesday, January 23: Happy Birthday, Jeff!
Tuesday, January 23: Happy Birthday, Holly!
Thursday, January 25: Happy Birthday, Brian!
Thursday, January 25: Happy Birthday, Katie!
