Around the House

Happy Thanksgiving Back

Jenelle’s full-of-blackberries blackberry pie was a big hit at Grandma & Grandpa’s house earlier today.

I’m also pleased to report that I have already done the bare minimum as far as Christmas lights are concerned.  I’ve replaced the bulbs on the sides of our garage to a festive red and green.  Ooooh, pretty.

Have a great holiday weekend, everyone!

A place for our little one

Nursery Photo Album

It’s less than five weeks until the expected arrival of our baby daughter.  We’ve been working steadily to prepare the nursery.

We painted the walls and the ceilings, and then added some white crown molding.  A big thanks to Dad (Tom) for help with the crown molding.  On the windows, we have cordless shades/blinds.  A big thanks to Dad (Dave) for help with that!

We have all of the necessary furniture (crib, chest of drawers, glider, ottoman), and we’ll be adding a small table and a floor lamp soon.

One truly unique part of the nursery is the bedding.  Jenelle and her mom picked out fabrics while we were in Oregon, and Jenelle’s mom is making just about everything.  Once it’s all done, I’ll try and post some more photos.

In The CLEAN Garage

You might recall this post from a few weeks ago. I am pleased to report that we have just about everything conveniently organized in our garage, and now we can easily fit both cars in. We’ll probably be able to fit our deck furniture as well. Besides Jenelle’s celebratory pose above, you are welcome to check out a movie that shows our work in all its glory. 🙂

In The Garage

We took everything out of the garage today. Yes, everything. We thoroughly swept the floor and cleared out the cobwebs. The next step is to organize all the stuff. Stay tuned.

Landscaping Part 2

Over the weekend, we finished the other planting area in our front yard:

Things are looking pretty good — I just hope I can keep the plants alive. 🙂

Party Hearty

Four weeks ago today (my goodness, has it been that long?) was our annual Independence Day party. We always invite a bunch of friends and family for a cookout, fireworks, and general outdoor fun. Did I forget to invite you this year? My apologies — e-mail me, and I’ll make sure you’re on the list for 2010!

This year’s party was another great one. The thing that I will remember most is the large number of kids in attendance. Thankfully, we had lots of things for them to do. Jenelle has three bins full of her old toys in the basement. We also have a set of bases, about ten wiffle balls, and a big red plastic bat. We have a firepit that we used to help the kids (and adults) make s’mores. And when Jenelle told the kids that there’s a frog (or is it a toad?) that hangs around our yard, the kids were following her all over. It was pretty cute.

We STILL have tons of beverages left over. This year, we had about 50 alcoholic beverages, and approximately 7 of those were consumed at the party. The same goes for soda. We obviously overbought. Jenelle and I are not big drinkers, so I think we’re covered until the end of the year. 🙂

The cutest kid pictures are below, and here’s the full photo album.

Yard Work

Jenelle has done some truly amazing work in the front yard. It’s still a work in progress, but it’s looking awesome.
